Mrs. Robb – 7th & 8th Grade Math/Assistant Principal
Posted on January 27, 2012, by Rachel Robb, under Middle School Notes.
Reminders: Math Score should be completed every week. Students have from Monday – Sunday at midnight to complete. For the month of January students need to have 30 minutes of actively engaged time in order to receive credit.
Students should work on fractions for the month of January.
Tutoring takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you need help at any other time please contact me.
7th Grade Math
Students are currently studying using proportion and percents. Next, we will cover geometry. Students are working very hard to become proficient in the area of fractions. In order to keep improving their skills they need to work solely on fractions for math score.
7th Grade Honors
Students are learning the Pythagorean theorem and square roots. They will have a short test over these two concepts the week of January 17th. Next, they will study applications of proportions and percents.
8th Grade Pre-Algebra
Students had some difficulty with fractions so we are going back to basics for a review of fractions. We will spend the next few days reviewing the operations of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. This is a critical skill, and all students need to have mastery over this topic before we move on. Once we have reviewed fractions, the students will review square roots and then the Pythagorean theorem. Next, they will cover proportions and percents.
8th Grade Algebra
The algebra class is progressing well. They are currently studying functions and graphs. Next, they will study linear equations and their graphs.

Ms. Robb, 7th and 8th Grade Math
Posted on September 19, 2011, by Rachel Robb, under Cub Scouts, Middle School Notes.
Welcome back to school. The new year has gotten off to a great start. This year I am teaching the 7th grade regular and honors Math classes as well as 8th grade pre-algebra and 8th grade algebra classes. The students are doing fantastic thus far. Students are reminded to bring their textbook, workbook, comp and binder with them to class everyday.
Tutoring
I do not have a set tutoring time. I have advised the students to come to me if they need additional help with their math. This way we can schedule a time to work one on one. Students can come in before school, during recess, or immediately after school but they need to come to me so we can set up a time to work together. I have also advised the students if they have trouble with their homework once they get home to email me with their questions so they can get immediate assistance.
7th Grade Regular
We are using the Prentice Hall Middle Grades Math book, course 2. Students just completed a unit on Interpreting Data and Statistics. Next, they will study Application of Decimals. Students did receive a syllabus for the year which gives the approximate dates things will be covered as well as dates for tests. This information is also available on the website.
7th Grade Honors/8th Grade Pre-Algebra
We are using the Prentice Hall Middle Grades Math book, course 3. Students just completed a unit on Drawing Conclusions from Statistica Data. Next, we will study Integers and Variable Expressions. Students did receive a syllabus for the year which gives the approximate dates things will be covered as well as dates for tests. This information is also available on the website.
8th Grade Algebra
We are currently finishing up chapter 1, Tools of Algebra. Students have learned a variety of things which will be the foundation for the rest of the course. This first chapter has taken a little longer than expected to complete so the dates on the syllabus will change. Next, we will study Solving Equations.
Please feel free to email me any time if you have any questions or concerns.

NJHS

NJHS students have been kept busy tutoring students in math, English and various other school subjects. There is still time to ask NJHS for tutoring services, one-on-one. Email Mrs. Connelly if interested, mconnelly@saintspride.com.
Proceeds from the sale of turkey feathers in November were donated to charity; this year a needy family was the recipient. Another charity will be chosen at the end of the year with proceeds from Valentine carnation sales. Carnations will go on sale soon. Watch for information in Thursday folders.

News from the Front Office
Posted on September 29, 2010, by Sandy Walkley, under Administrative Notes.
We are off to a great year! Students are doing so well in the mornings going to their classrooms eager to learn.
Allow me to use this forum to remind parents of a few things we are trying to implement this year.
FAST FOOD LUNCHES: As stated in an email several weeks ago we ask that parents no longer bring lunches from fast food places. We have so many students waiting and looking for lunches that never show up. DineRite then has to feed additional children who did not order a lunch.
SICK STUDENTS & HOMEWORK REQUESTS: Students that are absent need to be called in as absent between 8:30 -9:00 am. At that time please request homework to be collected. Homework is available for pickup from 3:10 until 6:00 via the aftercare cafeteria doors. Homework is on the front counter if you requested it.
PARKING CONCERNS:
- Please use the designated parking areas for arrival and dismissal. The NORTH church parking lot or the car line are the only two options for dropping off in the morning or picking up in the afternoon.
- Do not park next to the church as Father Mike wants these spaces to be left available for parishioners attending morning Mass.
- Please do not use the faculty parking areas when the cones are present. A map is available and was recently sent in the Thursday folder.
- As you know, gates were installed in 2008 to discourage parking on the school playground or in the carline area for any school, church or sporting event. We were recently informed by the Fire Marshall that we must install a Knox Fire Emergency padlock in conjunction with the school’s lock for the gate. The Knox Fire Emergency padlock will allow these areas to remain accessible to the Fire Department in the event of an emergency.
- The gates are to be unlocked and opened only during afternoon pick-up between 3:00 and 3:30 Mon-Fri. Parking is prohibited in fire lanes to ensure the access of emergency vehicles. Additional parking is available in the north church parking lot. Thanks for helping us to keep everyone’s children SAFE!
TUTORING: Students are released into aftercare at 4:00. If parents are not present to collect students from tutoring they are signed into aftercare. Charges will apply. Please check the clipboard, and sign out your child if they have been checked into aftercare. There is not a grace period. Please meet your students in the cafeteria. We do not allow students to leave through the front doors. Please consider the safety of the people remaining in the school. The only access to the building after 3:30 is via the cafeteria doors.
We can not accept homework faxes to deliver to students throughout the day. Teachers have different classroom policies regarding late work; please abide by the classroom rules.
These are general do’s and don’ts. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We want to allow our children to flourish into responsible young men and women.
Thanks so much, Sandy Walkley
