Cub Scout Pack 788 has been busy this fall!  On October 15-16th, the scouts and their families enjoyed this great fall weather by camping out at Meridian State Park.  We welcomed many new Tiger Cubs and their families to the Pack and to the camping experience!  The group enjoyed an amazing hike around Lake Meridian and participated in a Pumpkin Carving Contest.  All were great, but Christopher Larkin (Tiger Cub Scout and St. Elizabeth of Hungary 1st Grader) took the prize as the Best Pumpkin!

Pack 788 Hiking at Meridian State Park

Christopher Larkin Takes First Prize!

On October 22nd, Pack 788 was honored to participate in the 20th Anniversary of Cedar Hill State Park by participating as the Color Guard.  In and among the dignitaries for this event was Pack 788′s own BJ and Armando Medina, Joshua Porter, Justin Burns and Mr. Burns.  They made the Pack (and the Cub Masters) very proud!

On November 19th, Pack 788 took a Field Trip to the Hall of State in Fair Park to see the ‘Texas’ exhibit.  It was an amazing day full of lot of great and unusual Texas History!

The popcorn has arrived and you should be receiving it from Pack 788 scouts!  Many thanks to those that supported Pack 788′s Annual Popcorn Sales!  This year, the popcorn sales took on a new form with pre-sale, on-line sales and traditional sales opportunities.  The variety of sales methods helped the Pack surpass last year’s popcorn sales and the total drive was the most successful in our history.  Congratulations to Frank Aguilar who came in 1st place in sales (two years in a row!), Justin Burns who came in 2nd place and Armando Medina who came in 3rd place.  These lucky scouts, along with others that sold over $750.00 in popcorn, get to throw a pie at Mr. Burns!  Kudos to Justin and Christina Burns who served as Pack 788′s “Popcorn Kernels” this year!

Pack 788 is assisting the Third Grade this year with collecting items as Christmas gifts for the residents of the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.  On Sunday, December 11th, Pack 788 will gather to make up the gift bags and have them ready for the Third Grade to distribute to the residents in time for Christmas.  Items being collected for the residents include:  travel-sized tissues, socks, sugar-free candy, large print books, puzzles with large puzzle pieces, magazines, toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo (baby shampoo), bar soap and shaving cream.  If you would like to donate items for this event, please do not hesitate to contact Dana Choate or Betty Fabian.
