New Custom Basketball Uniforms

The Booster Club is investing in custom basketball uniforms for all of our athletes. Jerseys will be provided to all athletes and returned at the end of the season. The matching shorts will be purchased by the athletes to keep. The new uniforms are not yet ready as the sublimation process takes longer than typical uniforms, but a photo of the design is below.

Saints Basketball Uniform

The jerseys will be used by our basketball players for years to come. Our goal is to decrease the financial investment for all to participate in Saints athletics. The Booster Club hopes to be able to migrate all sports over to this type of borrowed jersey program over the next several years. This is made possible by all the fundraising efforts of the Booster Club as well as several corporate donations. Thanks to everyone who supports the Booster Club and helps make Saints Athletics possible.

Basketball Season

The basketball season is underway, and that means yummy concessions!  This is a major fundraising effort for the Booster Club each year, so we encourage everyone to come enjoy some Saints Athletics and a hot dog, nachos, Frito Pie, chips, candy, popcorn, etc. Be sure to ask for your Frito Pie to be made “the MJ way.” You’ll have to come to the concession stand to get the full story on that!

You will find our teams’ game schedules on the Dallas Parochial League website. This year we have teams playing 6th grade girls D2, 8th grade girls D2, 6th grade boys D2 and 7th grade boys D2. You’ll find schedules on the Saints Athletics Website Calendar. Oftentimes we play games on Saturdays and Sundays. Some come on out and support your school athletes. Go Saints!

We also need volunteers to help work the concession stand. It is a fun way to support Saints Athletics and to get in some volunteer hours. You can see our concession schedule online. Sign up online to work or email Katy Barrilleaux.

Science Fair Concessions

The Science Fair is coming on Wednesday, February 1, and the Booster Club will be selling food that night. We need volunteers to help so please email Katy Barrilleaux if you can help.

Booster Club Meetings

All Booster Club members and those interested in learning more about the Booster Club are invited to attend our monthly meetings. They are typically held on the first Wednesday of the month in the Catapult Learning Room at 6:30pm. Our February meeting has been moved to Wednesday, February 8th to not conflict with the Science Fair. Please come check it out, and find out what’s happening with Saints Athletics. You will find our meeting dates on the Booster Club calendar online.

Calling All Coaches

Attention coaches, the athletics department is still looking for a few coaches for the Spring season. If you are interested in coaching track, baseball, or softball, please contact Coach Daryle Good as soon as possible.

Baseball, Softball, and Track

Saints Baseball, Softball, and Track are right around the corner. Look for registration forms in your Thursday folder very soon. We are also organizing a pre-season free clinic for interested athletes so watch your email and get ready to dust off your glove!

Saints Athletics Jersey Day, Scholarship Breakfast, and Pep Rally

Booster Club members, mark your calendar now for our next Booster Club member Jersey Day!  It will be held on Thursday, March 22. Booster members may wear their favorite team jersey, whether from a St. Elizabeth team, college, pro, or other team. Just follow the rules for a dress down day with your jersey. We also will hold our Booster Club Scholarship Breakfast that morning before school to raise funds for our annual Saints Athletics Scholarship. So plan to get to school a little early that morning to enjoy some breakfast. The fun day will culminate with a Pep Rally in the gym to celebrate our winter athletes who participated in basketball.

We will learn about the continued wars affecting the Texas Indians, the implementation of the Texas Rangers, the expansion of the railroad, how the railroad had an effect not only on the Texas population, but also how it changed the open-range cattle farming community. Also during this time, new technology enables Texas to become an important center of agriculture in the United States.

Grocery Store Fundraiser

Posted on March 11, 2010, by , under Fundraisers.

Print Print

Did you know that Tom Thumb donates a portion of your purchases to St. Elizabeth School? Tom Thumb has community programs to donate 1% of every dollar you spend at their store back to St. Elizabeth School.

But, they do not donate to St. Elizabeth unless you sign up for their program and designate St. Elizabeth as your beneficiary.

To participate in:
Tom Thumb – St. Elizabeth’s number is #648. Turn in a completed application at your Tom Thumb store; they will give you a Reward Card, present that card to the cashier during your transaction. To change or verify the designated beneficiary of your current Reward Card, ask the cashier during your transaction.

The more people that designate St. Elizabeth as their beneficiary school the more dollars St. Elizabeth earns to help defray the costs of tuition.

Thank you for participating in this fundraiser.

Right now a moment of time is passing by! We must become that moment.

Artist of the month Paul Cezanne

PK & Kinder – Mrs. Barrientos

It is almost Christmas in the art class for Pre-K and Kinder – I hope that you are enjoying our little projects as much as I am. As you have noticed we are concentrating on seasonal projects. We will be working on a snow man made out of paper plates and cotton balls.

3rd & 4th Grade – Mrs. Connelly

Students were introduced to still life. Students explored lighting, shadowing, perspective, texture, shapes, color, and size. Charcoal was the medium used in students’ still life drawings.

1st, 2nd, 5th–8th Grade – Mrs. Shelton

The students will be making Christmas cards, and working with pony beads to make candy canes and wreaths.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your Art teachers!

I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music.

Joan Miro, November Artist-of-the-month

PK & Kinder – Mrs. Barrientos
Our rainbow fish are very cute!  We are currently working on a tissue paper collage.  They are practicing gluing squares of different colors of tissue paper into a printed elephant.

We will be talking about fall colors and working on our fine skills by tearing pieces of construction paper and putting together a collage of different colors in our cornucopias for Thanksgiving.

I hope you are enjoying your children’s art project as I am enjoying working with them.

3rd & 4th Grade – Mrs. Connelly
After discussing Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism and looking at artwork by Joan Miro and Wassily Kandinsky, students practiced drawing images in the style of Miro and Kandinsky.  Students will also put the finishing touches on their ancient coins.  Thanksgiving is just around the corner so students will be starting projects that have a Thanksgiving theme.

1st, 2nd, 5th-8th Grade – Mrs. Shelton
The 1st and 2nd graders are weaving place mats.

The 5th and 6th graders are completing their charcoal still life.

The 6th and 7th graders are putting the finishing touches on their stain glass project and will began still-life painting.

Mrs. Barrientos, Mrs. Connelly and Ms. Shelton are looking forward to meeting parents this Friday at Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Print Print

Number of returned surveys: 89

Average Rating: 8.85

The survey used was developed by the Institute of School and Parish Development, and is an instrument used by Catholic school administrators across the nation.  A rating of 7 out of 10 is considered an ideal score.

Comments:

  • Quality Catholic Education with high level of Excellence/Excellent teaching/Well rounded Education, students are academically challenged and well prepared for high school (30)
  • Great teachers, administration, & staff who really care about their students (19)
  • Close knit family atmosphere with parent involvement/Nurturing, supportive, safe environment (16)
  • Strong Catholic tradition & values (6)
  • Excellent communication between school and home/School is well organized and structured (5)

There was no overwhelming issue, or concern, presented by a significant number of families.  All other comments and suggestions appeared only once or twice, with the exception of five comments dealing with the cost of tuition.

All suggestions have been taken into serious consideration in making improvements to our educational program here at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic School.

Our school administration and Advisory Council are continuing to explore ways to try to keep tuition costs as reasonable as possible for our families.

Thank you for your participation in our Summer/Fall Parent Satisfaction Survey!

The next survey will be conducted in February 2010.
