About Boosters

Welcome to the online home of the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic School Booster Club and Saints Athletics

The Booster Club is an opportunity for parents to be involved in our athletic program. The Club works directly with the athletic director and principal to make our athletic programs the best they can be. The Booster Club is responsible for fundraising, improving the athletic fields on campus, and the overall spirit of the athletes. Meetings are held once a month. Membership is open to the parents of current students.

The organized team sports offered each school year typically include:

  • August-November: Volleyball, Cross Country
  • November-March: Basketball
  • February-May: Softball, Baseball, Track, Soccer

Students in grades fifth and sixth compete at the Junior Varsity level. Seventh and eighth graders compete at the Varsity level.

Goals and Objectives

All coaches and sponsors are to cooperate in achieving the goals and objectives of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic School and the Diocese of Dallas as set forth in the handbook, and they are to conduct their programs within these guidelines. We strive to offer the student opportunities to develop skills and to enjoy rule-governed play in an atmosphere of Christian values. We encourage each participant to deal with emotions positively and as a good sportsman. We strive to promote a positive self-image.

The school suggests no more than two concurrent extra-curricular activities/sports per year. Students should choose activities carefully; remember that each advance in grade imposes greater academic responsibilities.

Eligibility

To participate in St. Elizabeth extra-curricular activities, a student must:

  • Maintain passing grades in all subjects. The athletic director will check all grades at progress report and report card intervals. Any student who receives a progress report for a failing grade (below 70) is ineligible to practice or compete for a two week probationary period. After receiving the students’ grades on the biweekly teacher reports and having an interview with the student and parent, the principal has the discretion to restore eligibility to a student, or to make a student ineligible. The principal likewise has the discretion to allow students who have a learning difference and who have worked to the best of their ability, as noted in the teacher reports, to be eligible.
  • Demonstrate leadership in Christian conduct and in following school rules. Athletes receiving discipline slips during activity must discuss the matter with the principal, the athletic director, and the coach to determine if disciplinary probation or dismissal from the team is warranted.
  • Be within age requirements of the league. A student must be younger than 15 years of age on September 1, of the school year.
  • Make a commitment to the team. A team depends on all members. A student must notify his/her coach of any conflict or reason for missing practice. An unexplained absence from practice may prevent participation in the next competition.
  • Pay the required athletic fees.
  • Be responsible for any uniform or equipment used during the season.

Athletic Awards

Students receive a pin denoting each junior varsity or varsity sport completed. A student must complete the season and must participate in at least half of the competitions or games to earn a pin. A student who is absent excessively or who quits the team will not receive a pin. The coach, athletic director, and principal will decide such cases.
